Jim Turnage has had two careers in his life. His first career was 14 years in the drilling industry. From 1974 to 1980, he worked and lived in Iran, Italy, The Netherlands, Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas. He traveled throughout the world while based in Dallas from 1981 to 1988. During this period, he was responsible for initiating, implementing and administering the company’s drug testing program. He and a few other drilling company executives were the first in the nation to begin drug testing of company employees. This led him to start his first drug testing company in 1990.
His company conducted drug testing throughout the US, Africa, Central America and the Middle East. In the mid 90’s, he started drug testing for the Dallas County Family Courts and then surrounding counties. He has testified over 700 times in family, juvenile, and federal courts and speaks frequently at judicial and legal conferences. He has published several papers on drug testing.
He sold his company in 2000 merging with three other drug testing companies. August 2008, he started Forensic DNA & Drug Testing Services, Inc. in downtown Dallas with offices also in Fort Worth and McKinney, Texas.
